Ganga is the personification of the river Ganges and is worshipped by Hindus as the goddess of purification and forgiveness. Known by many names, she is often depicted as a fair, beautiful woman, riding a divine crocodile-like creature called the makara.

When bathing in the river, Ganga is believed to cleanse you of sin and facilitate Moksha, the freeing of the soul from life to death.
